Mr. Nkam Mongwa is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist/Advanced Practice Nurse at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey. He holds a Master of Science in Nursing & Healthcare Administration with a Business Minor in Health Care Management from the University of Pennsylvania; and a Post Masters certificate in Nurse Anesthesia from Drexel University from where he received the Agatha Hodgins Awards for Clinical Excellence. He has over 15 years of clinical and managerial experience within the healthcare industry.
Nkam is a champion of mentoring and community work and routinely volunteers for community-related activities. He has undertaken health-related volunteer trips to South Africa, Ethiopia, and Cameroon where together with input from staff designed a template for use as pre-anesthesia history and physical assessment form, as well as an intra-operative model for documentation which is now in use in multiple hospitals within the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health System.
He has mentored a countless number of nurses seeking an advanced career in nurse anesthesia. Nkam serves on the Board of Directors of the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program, the Board of Trustees of the Cameroon Professional Society, the Executive Committee as Treasurer of the Cameroon Cultural Association of Southern New Jersey and until recently served as Co-Chair of the Advanced Practice Nurse Council at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center.
His interests include capacity building to enable improved provision of anesthesia services in Cameroon through education or otherwise, partaking in volunteer trips.
